My portfolio clips
Well! My life has been through so much in a year but I am finally back and ready to finish out my college years and get back into blogging (I hope you didn't miss me too much). I've decided that since I'm about to graduate (at the end of the summer) I want to change the look of my blog and make it more employer friendly. Don't worry I'll still have outfit posts and still give you my thoughts on all things fashion but I am also going to start putting up some of the articles that I write that have been published as well as keep you guys up to date on what is going on in my life job and schoolwise.
I guess first things first I want to put up some links to some articles that I wrote in the past year or so.
2.This is another story that I wrote for the Florida Times-Union website. It is also about how animals are affected by the economy and how many are being abandoned (and yes those are my puppies in the pic). To read more of this article click here.
3. Last semester I took a class called Applied Journalism. It was honestly one of the best classes I ever took if not the best! And one of the projects we did was called the Hope Fund, and our class joined up with the Florida Times-Union and HandsOn Jacksonville, a volunteer organization, and our class wrote stories for the Florida Times-Union about families that needed either money or some type of support and we helped raise money for the families through writing these stories. My teacher approached me during this time and asked if I would write the first story that would run in the TU (it was a huge honor) and of course I agreed. For this article I got the chance to interview the sweetest lady about her struggles with a disability and how our organization helped her last year. To read more about her struggles and how she overcame them click here.
4. I also was able to interview another family for the Hope Fund, along with another guy from my class. We got to talk to a family of refugees from Africa about how they finally got the chance to come here and what it was like living there. One of the coolest things was that they didn't speak any English so we had to have a translator. So much fun! To read this story click here.

It's that time of year again...
So it is once again New York Fashion Week! I absolutely love all of it. If there was one place that I wanted to see before I die it would be New York Fashion Week. I have been perusing style.com every night to see who's done a show and I swear each one gets better than the last. Here are a few of my favorites:
Boy by band of Rag and Bone
Outsiders
Marc by Marc Chris Benz
Jacobs
These were all really good shows but I would have to say that the one that stuck with me the most and the one that I loved looking at the most was Trovata. I love to see runway shows of clothes that I could take right off the model and wear and I think that this show definitely has that type of feel. Not to say that the others weren't good, I have always been a huge fan of boy by band of outsiders and Marc by Marc Jacobs but this year Trovata did an outstanding job and I wanted to make that known.
Here are some looks from the Trovata show that I am coveting:
So after looking at all these shows what I want most is to go out and buy a ton pair of stirrup leggings. Long leggings were all over the fall runways.
So hard to say goodbye,

Waiting on the world to change...
Okay well it may not be the world I'm waiting on but have you ever just been sick and tired and waiting? I know I have! So I've compiled a list of the top 10 things I hate waiting for.
I HATE...
10. Waiting for...my magazine subscriptions to come in the mail. I get them a couple of weeks early but I still find myself thinking after I just received one in the mail and finished it all within the hour "I wonder when the next one will be here?" Does anyone else think that as well? That is one reason why I hate waiting.
9. Waiting to... get a test back. You know when you think you do really good on a test but you're not sure if the tescher will agree so your hoping and praying that you'll get the test back soon so you can check. Or the other way around you take a test and think you did horrific bad but there's that chance prayer that you may not have failed so your waiting to see what your grades going to be. Yeah, I hate that. I just want to know!
8. Waiting to...go on vacation. I love any chance I can to get out of town and go on vacay. So whenever my family tells me we are going on vacation I start planning what we're going to do down to the outfits I will wear when we do it (who am I kidding my outfits are the first thing I think about). But then I hear that we're not leaving for another two weeks. Why do that to me? I always tell them to tell me two a day before we leave, just because I don't like waiting.
7. Waiting for...Fashion Week in New York. The best thing to happen since sliced bread skinnies came back into style and I have to wait for it to come every year. Why? I mean I know that designers need time to prepare their clothes but the waiting is torture!
6. Waiting at...restaurants. Not the waiters and waitresses because I have yet to have truly sucky service. But I mean waiting for people to show up at restaurants. I went out to eat the other night for a friends birthday and we waited probably 30 minutes for one of his friends to show up before we ordered. I nearly chewed my hand off I was so hungry!
5. Waiting for...next weeks shows to come on. I am obsessed with Gossip Girl and all the other CW shows (to see what shows I tune in to click here) but when they show next week's shows I already want to see them, and then I have to wait forever a whole week to see them!
4. Waiting for...payday. In the words of Rachel Zoe, I only work to support my shopping habit so waiting to get that paycheck
3. Waiting for...the weekend. I sometimes like school but there is nothing like the weekend. Having nothing to do is the best feeling in the world, but waiting all week 5 days to get there just sometimes doesn't seem worth it.
2. Waiting for...movies to come out. You just saw the preview for the best movie but its not coming out for another year. I hate that! My bestie and I are waiting for HSM3 to come out so we can go see it(yes I know that's lame but I love Zanessa) and the waiting is torture.
1. And lastly waiting for...online clothes. I just ordered a jacket online and I have to wait 3-5 business days. It sucks!
So what do you think? Do you hate these things too? I guess all of these things really have a happy ending so I should just wait and be thankful huh?
So hard to say goodbye,

I finally got it!!!!
So the day finally came! My plan with Sprint ended and I got the new Sidekick! I love it and in fact I am writing my post from my phone.
So in honor of my new phone I'm going to do something different. I'm going to show a week's worth of outfits that I wore and what inspired me to wear them.
First:
Now, before I begin telling about this outfit let me explain. I went through this phase where I was obsessed with boots, like deeply obsessed, so now I have tons of pairs of boots that I never wear (I mean why should I when I live in Florida). But on this particular morning I woke up and it was raining so I thought I can finally wear my boots! So I threw on these black ones and everything else just fell into place. place.
Another funny story, I was at JcPenney the other day and I saw this skirt and at first I thought it was cute but then I saw the price tag it was $2.00! I grabbed it up and raced to the register and now I wear it all the time. It especially looks cute when worn as a high waisted bubble skirt with a vintage t-shirt. Looking back on this outfit I'm not sure if I love it but it's okay.
This outfit I had to get two shots because I wanted to show the cuteness of the shoes, they're black booties! I saw them and immediately loved them. I wear them all the time to work (not really to school though because heels on my campus is not realistic). I also love the dress it's a sweater dress and really comfortable.
This picture is kind of funny because actually the pants are blue jeans and the vest is supposed to be black but the picture makes them look backwards. I also had a scarf around my neck (which I stole borrowed from my mom) because I woke up and it was FREEZING! But then it warmed up to the 70's. I also showed my hair for this picture because I loved how it looked that day (the pic doesn't really show how cute it was). I cut my hair right before the fall semester and I'm still trying to get used to it so when I have a good hair style I get really excited. I mean it looks good down but not really up.
It's still a little too warm to be wearing this coat but it's really cute, it's like a plaid fabric and it fits really well and again I'm wearing my favorite booties. I really don't like this picture because I feel like I look like a fat cow. And I'm usually not one of those girls who complains about her weight just so others will say she looks good but in this instance I really think I look fat.
I wore this outfit to work this week and I usually don't dress up much for work because I'm just a secretary but every now and then I like to dress the part. I really like this purse, it's a Kathy Von Zeeland that my aunt bought for me and I have definitely overworn it.
So what do you think? Do you like the outfits, is there something you would do differently? Let me know!
So hard to say goodbye,
Flutterbygirl
